Haiku

by Rick Nahass

Omniscient spring leaves
young lovers in the treetops
Thieves prey in the dark

Stars of summer nights
dangle bugs in our eyes
on translucent strings

Autumn wears a hat
not for shade not for warmth
just to eat under

Moonlight in winter
spin the songs of lonely wolves
into a blanket

A clash of nature
Civilization: Raccoon
picking in my trash

Anticipating
Autumn chilled air, yellow leaves
Sausage, mustard, beer

Grape, a thousand rows
Threadbare cane in harvest leaves
warm fermenting nights

Setting clouds aflame
Wait on pre-eve ritual
Colored by the sun

In the quiet dawn
the angles of the sun speak
like Pythagoras

In the quiet dawn
bacon in a hot skillet
prepare men for war
